SAVuka TV to enter the South African crowed online streaming market

With ShowMax planinng to expand outside of South Africa and Netflix planning to join the crowd, video streaming is slowly becoming a crowded but that has not stopped yet another company to enter the market.

A Google Android app dubbed SAVuka TV plans to launch on December 9, joining other local video on demand offerings such as Naspers-owned ShowMax, MTN’s VU, PCCW’s ONTAPtv.com and Times Media Group’s Vidi.

However, the makers of the SAVuka TV app, Pecil Productions, have said their service differs in that it “strictly provides local content”.

The service, aimed at smartphone users, will showcase content produced by South Africans and will launch with a range of price plans, including a R35/month subscription option.
